LA Mermaid

I took a road trip to LA this past weekend with my pal Katy. It was a whirlwind trip for me for staying no more 28 hours there! Highlights of the trip include Tavi's art show party, laying on the beach for hours on Sunday, and the Madonna Inn for dinner and magic!

 I must come back here.

If you are in the Bay Area and want a dose of inspiration I highly recommend visiting the DeYoung museum in SF to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. It blew my mind! And I want to go again!

London Look 1: Prints Charming

I'm heading to London in May to visit my sister who is living there now and I am having too much fun thinking about what I'm going to wear. Currently my mood for London is Flower Childlike and you might just find me drowning in head to toe floral prints. Also, my new name will be Sandy (short for Sandrine because I'm actually a Parisian in this fantasy) and I will be a Scorpio to boot. ;P Hopefully I'll find an English Garden to blend into while I'm there.

hallelujah!

Well gosh darnit, I just had the most amazing 2 days. My dresses came to life in a way I could never have imagined. I want to give thanks to all who were involved in this project. This is my shout out to Cave Collective for the invitation, Kenneth Johnson, the three beautiful actresses, film crew and of course my homegirl mother nature who provided us with perfect weather conditions. A healing sanctuary was built out of driftwood for the film and will be left up for people to enjoy. So take a trip to Stinson Beach in the next few days or so to experience it if you can!

Showtime!

I won't give it all away but I feel good about the work I've done. Here's one of the completed dresses. Off to Mt. Tam for the shoot! Wish me luck!

It's the final countdown till the film shoot! Got one dress down and two more to go. April don't fool me now. I've got a lot of work to do.

Dreamy

This is my go to running spot. Or "Rancing" as I've been calling it lately. I start running and then realize I'd rather dance so I "rance".

Just plain dancing is great too.

I'm back!

I've been working on stuff! My friend Cat, an amazing artist/illustrator and overall great friend has been creating a line of necklaces for her project Cave Collective and asked me to collaborate with her and a small group of other artists on a small art film. I've been working on a few dress bodies that will be worn in the film. Here's a sneak peek of a prototype.

Shaping my world

Looking back I realized that this one advertisement from 1998 was the single most influential thing that could happen to me at the time I was shaping my artistic paradigm. At a time I was annoyed by the fact my name (Isabelle) was too old fashioned sounding and not popular and cool like Kristen, Caitlin, or Kelly, I was ecstatic to see my name illuminated by sumptuous florals. It made me realize how feminine and romantic my name is. Today, flowers play a big part in my design work.
